Double World Champion Orla Comerford will be honoured by the club at a reception in the Ardilaun room in the Red Stables, St Anne’s Park on Wednesday next, October 22 at 4:15pm.
The 28-year-old had a sensational World championship in New Delhi last month securing gold medals in both the T3 100m and 200m events.
Her double gold was the high point of a stellar season in which she won the 60m Mixed Classification race at the European Indoor championships in Apeldoorn before claiming victory at the Paris Grand Prix - where she set a new 200m personal best of 24.61 - as well as a victory in the Bislett Games in Oslo in the 100m in a new personal best time of 11.87.
These successes follow on from her bronze medal performance at last year’s Paralympics in Paris.
Orla has been a member of Raheny Shamrock AC still her primary school days.
There is a special treat for all the club’s juvenile athletes next Wednesday as Orla will conduct a mini-sprint session with the kids at 5.30 in St Anne’s Park.
Club members are welcome to attend reception in the Red Stables.
