It was a day in thick mud at the national novice cross country championship at the national cross country arena in Abbotstown.

The men’s team of Dara Mac Riocaird 71st, Robert Frewen 74th, Shane Boyce 89, Christian Finn 90 finished in 11th place.

They were followed home by Ian McConkey, Anthony Eames, Giovanni Salvatore, Conor Wynne Walsh, Darragh Carolan.

The women’s team of Megan Moynagh 76, Caroline Kavanagh 85, Bernadette Bruen 86 and Sarah Deneher 87th finished 14th.

They were followed home by Maria Dolan, Molly Rickard, Clare Fox, Seona O'Keeffe, Sinead Currie and Nicola Doyle.
